SPRING FOOD DRIVE AT OTC – MAY 7, 2023

A Word From Karen...

The Lord looks favorably upon those who take care of the poor and needy. We are asking everyone who is able to bring your best offering of canned and dry-goods food to our Sunday gathering on May 7, 2023.  Again, we will transport the donations to the Christian Cooperative Ministry in Madison, TN for distribution.

The instruction of God was clear through Moses, and still applies today, “If there is among you a poor man of one of your brothers inside any of your gates in your land which the Lord your God gives you, you shall not harden your heart, nor shut your hand from your poor brother” (Deut. 15:7).

QUICK HUNGER STATISTICS1

  • 12% of the population in the US struggle with hunger-about 41 million people
  • There are 38 million Americans that struggle with poverty
  • Households with children that are headed by a single woman have the highest rate of food insecurity
  • 16.7% of children do not know where their next meal is coming from
  • 22 million children rely on school for their meals
  • 12% of senior citizens experience food insecurity

We must all consider the cause of the poor: “The righteous consider the cause of the poor: but the wicked regard not to know it” (Prov. 29:7).

Please help us help them.

We love and appreciate each one of you.

Thank you,

Karen J.
