“To him that overcomes, will I give to eat of the tree of life.”
(Rev. 2:7)
The Kingdom of God has a reward and punishment system based on God’s principles, commandments, statutes, decrees and laws. If we are obedient to the voice of the Spirit of the LORD and His Word, we will receive rewards and blessings. If we choose to disobey the voice of the Spirit of the LORD and His Word, we suffer consequences and open the door to curses.
Obedience to His voice causes blessings from Heaven to come upon us and overtake us. (Deut. 28:2) Mastering the instructions contained in the Word takes a lifetime of continued obedience and qualifies us for rewards, not only in the world to come, but in our lifetime.
On the island of Patmos, the Apostle John was visited by Jesus Christ. John said he was in the Spirit on the Lord’s day and heard a great voice. He was commanded to write what he heard the voice say to the seven churches. The churches received information about their status with the Lord. Jesus promised rewards to those who overcame the troubled condition they were in, won the victory and reached the goal.
OVERCOMERS will:
- Enjoy the tree of life. Rev. 2:7
- Receive a crown of life. Rev. 2:10
- Not be hurt of the second death. Rev. 2:11
- Have access to hidden manna. Rev. 2:17
- Receive a white stone with a new name engraved upon it. Rev. 2:17
- Be granted power over the nations. Rev. 2:26
- Receive the morning star. Rev. 2:28
- Be clothed in white raiment; not have our name blotted out of the book of life, but have our name confessed before the Father and before His angels. Rev. 3:5
- Sit with Jesus Christ on His throne. Rev. 3:21.
In order to overcome, prevail and conquer the enemy, we must speak the right words. “And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto death” (Rev. 12:11).
Jesus says He is coming quickly and His reward is with Him, to give every man according as his work shall be. (Rev. 22:12)
The writer of Hebrews says we are not to cast away our confidence, which has great recompense of reward. (Heb. 10:35)
Lastly, remember David asked what the reward would be for the one who conquered Goliath. (I Sam. 17:26) We should ask ourselves, have we ever asked the LORD what the reward is for entering into and winning a battle? The LORD wants us to receive the spoils of warfare. He also wants us to learn to recognize whether we have won the battle or not. The LORD is reward-conscious and always rewards the obedient. When fervently and trustingly asked, The Holy Spirit will show us His wisdom and empower us to overcome every obstacle in our path today and each day we seek Him.
“For whatsoever is born of God overcomes the world: and this is the victory that OVERCOMES the world, even our faith” (I John 5:4).
