HEALTHY OR TOXIC HARVEST

A Word From Karen...

“Death and life are in the power of the tongue:
and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof”
(Prov. 18:21).

The apostle Paul has set a principle before us that cannot be ignored. “But it is not the spiritual life which came first, but the physical and then the spiritual” (I Cor. 15:46).

“In the beginning, God spoke and said… ‘Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb yielding seed, and the fruit tree yielding fruit after his kind, whose seed is in itself upon the earth’” (Gen. 1:11) KJV. The principle we need to focus on here is that seed multiplies after itself. Like kind produces like kind; therefore, the seed (the future) is in the fruit (todays thoughts and words).  Here is an example of the natural law being first and then the spiritual law coming next. If we can understand the principle of the seed and how the seed works, our lives can change today, right now!

Jesus teaches us in the parable of the soil that the (spiritual) seed is the Word of God. (Luke 8:11). Your words are spiritual, therefore death and life are in the power of what you are speaking. Your words, which are spiritual, operate exactly like natural seed.

As we are in the month of Elul, a season of searching our souls, we must examine today’s harvest, that is, what we are reaping now from previous “plantings”. (Note that the time between seed planting and harvest varies widely. Some crops materialize almost immediately while others may take years.) Analyzing our past seed times and present harvests, we ask ourselves, “is the path we are taking going to produce a healthy or toxic harvest?” Are we reaping the rich harvest of reward for speaking life and obeying the word? Or are stressful emotions and circumstances poisoning our very souls?

Because your thoughts are words, these thoughts are also seeds that will ALWAYS bear fruit. It’s God’s law. Our thoughts and words are affecting us daily (every minute) and influencing all of our decisions. Our present harvest is a direct result of past and present cycles of thinking, both good and bad.

CHOOSE TO CHANGE

Let’s answer two questions: 1. What am I focused on? 2. What am I speaking?  Again, death and life are in the power of OUR tongue [each time – every time]. (Prov. 18:21)

In many instances, scientists have proven what the Word teaches us. Our brains can change. The ruts and trenches in our brains can be reformed by reforming our thoughts and confession. Romans 12:2 states the key to our change. “And be not conformed to this world: but be TRANSFORMED by the renewing (renovation) of your mind….”.

The word “transformed” is the Greek word “metamorphoo.” “Metamorphoo” is where we get the word “metamorphosis.” A metamorphosis is a change of the form or nature of a thing or person into a completely different one, by natural or supernatural means.1

Today is the day to choose life and begin our transformation process. “What man is he that desires life, and loves many days, that he may see good? Keep your tongue from evil, and your lips from speaking guile” (Psalm 34:12-13).

With love and much anticipation,

P/Karen
