TORNADO DEVASTATION IN MAYFIELD, KENTUCKY

A Word From Karen...

Families in Mayfield, Kentucky are facing total devastation of their homes, loss of lives, and brutal disruption of their way of life for which many have worked their entire lives.  This small Kentucky town is expected to be without water, heat and electricity for weeks in frigid and freezing temperatures.  Efforts are continuing to search for many that are still missing.  It is hard for some of us to fathom this level of destruction and devastation.

I personally know families in Mayfield and have ministered in that small town many times over the years.  I was informed by one of our friends that have family there, that their relatives were spared, some living only ¼ mile from the path of the tornado.  That is purely the hand of God and His mercy.

We at Olive Tree Connections will be sowing a financial mercy gift to the ministry, MERCY CHEFS.  They are heavily involved in assisting those effected by this horrible storm.  If you wish to sow in addition, please see the statement and information below from Founder Gary LaBlanc of Mercy Chefs.

“Everyone here is still in shock. The loss of life is staggering. The death toll is now approaching 100. More than 80 died in Kentucky alone. Mercy Chefs will be there to support the grieving families.

Today, we’re serving lunch and dinner here in Mayfield as we also distribute meals into surrounding communities that were hit by this massive tornado. It’s still quite unbelievable what this storm did. Simply put, we need help in an urgent way. I’m asking EVERY MERCY CHEFS FRIEND AND PARTNER to sponsor meals today if possibleClick here to make your tax-deductible gift to help feed tornado victims and volunteers in Mayfield and surrounding communities while we continue other vital efforts.

Most importantly, please pray for all those impacted by this disaster.”

Sowing financially today from Olive Tree Connections is only the beginning of how we are planning to help this town recover.  Once we have more information about specific needs, we will be sending supplies, clothes, water, etc.

“If I have seen any perish for want of clothing, or any poor without covering; If his loins have not blessed me, and if he were not warmed with the fleece of my sheep; If I have lifted up my hand against the fatherless, when I saw my help in the gate; Then let mine arm fall from my shoulder blade, and mine arm be broken from my bone.”  (Job 31:19-22).

Lord, we come boldly before your throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need. (Heb. 4:15,16). For all the families in Mayfield, Kentucky who may feel that all hope is lost, we ask for your divine comfort for those suffering this trouble.  May your peace which surpasses all understanding, guard their hearts and minds through Jesus Christ. (Phil. 4:6,7).

Love,

P/Karen
