SPIRITUAL APPLICATIONS OF THE FEAST OF TABERNACLES

A Word From Karen...

What are the feasts of the Lord
and how do we apply this to our lives?

The festivals of the LORD can be found in the 23rd chapter of Leviticus. There are foundational truths in each of the feasts, all speaking to us of the first and second coming of the Messiah. There is insight in each of the feasts instructing us on how to live our lives as believers. Moreover, these feasts are pictures of how the LORD desires to walk with His people every day, face-to-face in intimate exchange.

I discovered over the years from mentors in my life that in our celebrating the feasts of the Messiah, God unlocks greater and deeper things, things we need to discover about Him and about our daily and personal walk with Him.

The feasts of the Messiah are part of the Torah (instruction of the LORD). The Apostle Paul said that the Torah (instruction of the Lord) is a schoolmaster for us whose goal it is to lead us to the Messiah. (Gal. 3:24)

The feasts reveal God’s plan for the world through the Word. It is within the content of the Book that we discover who the Messiah is. (Psalm 40:6-8)

In the Words of Lev. 23:2, God commands: “Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, concerning the feasts of the LORD, which ye shall proclaim to be holy convocations, even these are my feasts.” Feasts in this sentence is the word mo’ed. Mo’ed means an appointment, a cycle, a season and a set time. God sets times and appointments with His people to fulfil certain events and experiences at ordained times.

For several weeks at OTC, we have been learning that we must be in God’s right-cycles and right-timing, in order to fulfil our destinies.

There is much to learn concerning the Feast of Tabernacles. For today’s purpose, I will focus on one area: Historically and presently, the Feast of Tabernacles is a living illustration of entering into the promised land. The fulfilment of the journey will be the entrance into the Messianic era, the new millennium. Spiritually, this is a picture of entering into the daily rest of God.

Hebrews 3:7 “Today, please listen: don’t turn a deaf ear as in the bitter uprising, that time of wilderness testing! Even though they watched me at work for 40 years, your ancestors refused to let me do it my way; over and over they tried my patience. And I was provoked, oh, so provoked! I said, ‘They’ll never keep their minds on God; they refuse to walk down my road.’ Exasperated, I vowed, ‘They’ll never get where they’re going, never be able to sit down and rest.’ So watch your step friends.  Make sure there’s no evil unbelief lying around that will trip you up and throw you off course, diverting you from the living God. For as long as it’s still God’s Today, keep each other on your toes so sin doesn’t slow down your reflexes.” (Msg)

We must remember to exhort one another daily so that we are not hardened through the delusion of sin. (Heb. 3:13)

Join us Wednesday night as we hear more about the Feast of Tabernacles.

Much love,

P/Karen
