“Hearken to me, ye that follow after righteousness, he that seek the LORD: look unto the rock whence you are hewned “Look unto Abraham your father, and unto Sarah that bare you:
(Isa. 51:1-2) KJV
To understand looking unto the rock from whence we are hewn, we must develop Hebraic eyes. We are a Western people with a Hebraic book. Jesus said to Simon Barjona, “You are Kefa (Kefa means ‘ROCK”) and on this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.” (Mat. 16:18) This comes from the prophet Isaiah 51:1-2.
“The people of Israel believed Abraham was the Rock, after which the Children of Israel were to pattern themselves, and they became known as the rocks of the Rock. The relationship between Yeshua and His disciples should be understood in the same manner.” 1
Every believer finds their origin in Abraham the Hebrew, “If you belong to Christ, then are you Abraham’s seed.” (Gal. 3:29)
The Word of God is eternal. Even in the year 2025, we are still to look to Abraham our father. (Isa. 51:2) The hebrew word “Look” means to scan, consider and have respect for. God called Abraham alone and blessed him and increased him. If we scan and respect Abraham, we see that he obeyed all of the instructions of God in his life. Abraham trusted God as his source. He walked by faith and not by sight. He staggered not at the promises of God through unbelief. He called things that did not exist as though they did. Against hope, he believed in hope. He was fully persuaded that what God had promised, he was able to perform. (Rom. 4)
FOCUS
If the Spirit of the Lord says, “Look to Abraham,” then we will have to focus intently. In today’s world, there are many distractions and a multitude of words, but God’s model is set before us for all times. God wants you to prosper and increase. He wants to give you the keys of the kingdom and build you. May we glean wisdom from the life of Abraham the Rock. The gates of hell will not be able to prevail against us. May we become rocks of the Rock.
Many blessings,
P/Karen
