GOD’S WILL FOR YOU AS WRITTEN IN HIS WORD

“This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it.
For then you will make your way prosperous,
and then you will have good success.”
(Jos. 1:8) NKJ

There is a multitude of voices going forth in the land from every imaginable media platform.  It would be very easy to become confused because of conflicting prophetic words being released.

The Lord does not want us to be confused in any way.  I believe He wants us all to spend extensive time with Him through prayer and in His Word to better understand exactly what is He speaking to US.

The world of the Hebrews was much different than the fast-paced world of today.  Because the Hebrews were not governed by machines, technology, phones and constant bombardments to their minds from outside sources, they had long periods of time to meditate.  Why is this  important for today’s consideration? It’s important because what was written before is for our learning today, to give us hope.

Meditation in God’s Word is not only a practice that will transform our souls, but helps us understand a principle, as seen in God’s Law, God’s Prophets and the Writings.

Isaac is a picture of a man who understood meditation. (Gen. 24:63).  When he went into the field to meditate, his eyes were OPENED to see the camels coming.  Among many other symbols, camels represent blessings. This story is contained in God’s Law (Torah), which means instruction.

The Book of Joshua is the first book in the Prophets that opens with a command to meditate on the Word of God night and day, so that our way is made prosperous, and that we have good success. (Jos. 1:8)

The Book of Psalms (the Writings) opens with a command stating, that if we meditate on the Word of God, day and night, we will be like a tree planted by the rivers of water that brings forth his fruit in his season, his leaf shall not wither and whatsoever he does shall prosper. (Psalm 1:2-3)

A TIME FOR MEDITATION

“The world of the Hebrews was such that they had long periods of time for uninterrupted meditation.  The rhythm of their lives was not ordered by alarm clocks or factory whistles, but by the sun.  Living outside as shepherds, farmers and fishermen, the Hebrews were close to both soil and sea.” 1

May the Lord restore to us REST, RECOVERY and REFRESHMENT.  May He teach us the beauty and benefit of undistracted meditation, meditation that transforms our souls.

Blessings,

P/Karen
