LET CREATIVITY BE

A Word From Karen...

And through His creative inspiration this Living Expression made all things, for nothing has existence apart from Him” (John 1:3). TPT

Today’s message is actually a prayer for the restoration of creativity in our lives.  Not all, but some of us have lost our creativity.  There are many reasons for and indications of this loss.  Loss of creativity can be detected in our conversations.  Most have probably heard this quote, “Great minds discuss ideas; average minds discuss events; small minds discuss people.” 1  Today, let’s check ourselves to hear what we are speaking.

All creativity originates in the Lord Jesus Christ.  Nothing can exist apart from Him.  Satan does not create anything, but rather steals from and perverts what God has created.  In the Book of John 1:3 we are told that “All things were made and came through Him; and without Him was not even one thing made that has come into being.” (AMP)  In the literal Aramaic, John 1:3 reads that “Everything existed through his Hands.”  If everything existed through His hands, then He is the source of all creativity.  The Lord only has to speak by His Spirit and doing so, He is able to create.  He created the heavens and the earth by speaking them into existence.  He breathes words saying “let there be”… and there is. (Ps. 33:6-9) TPT.  We may ask, “How can we be restored to such a  creative realm?  The answer is in establishing and maintaining the daily “face to face” relationship with Jesus.

There are many reasons why we lose our creativity.  Loss of creativity starts with the breakdown of the face-to-face relationship with the LORD; spending time in His presence and in His Word.  In His absence, the light of revelation becomes dark, often causing us to live vicariously through other humans.  We ignorantly or lazily look to foreign things to fill the place that only Jesus can fill.

One reason we lose creativity is because we refuse to become as little children.  Jesus teaches us to be such when He said that we cannot enter the Kingdom of Heaven unless we be converted and become as little children. (Matt. 18:3)  I remember being a child with a creativity level that was heavenly.  There seemed to be no limit to what I could create with paper, crayons, pencils and paint.  I loved being outdoors and playing in our neighborhood creek.  I would arrange rocks and sticks and created my own version of DisneyLand.  That same creek doubled as a bakery where I made mud cakes.  There was a huge rock in the middle of the creek that I imagined being a ship that I sailed around the world.  Whatever I wanted to be or wherever I wanted to go, I became that in my mind.

Sadly, there are many factors that cause us to lose creativity.  We can become exhausted because of work, family responsibilities and even ministry.  We can escape by spending hours in front of the television watching other people get paid for their creativity, while ours is being zapped as we are put in a state of near-vegetation.  Our conscious mind can literally go on autopilot making us vulnerable to the pre-programing we allow into it.  This state can retard or even destroy our ability to be creative.

My reason for this message is simply to bring to your attention the word “creativity.”  The Oxford Dictionary says that creativity is: “the use of skill and imagination to produce something new or to produce art.”  The book of Joshua has some amazing information about how to obtain skill.  Joshua says: This Book of the Law shall not depart out of your mouth, but shall meditate on it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written therein:  For then you shall make your way prosperous, and then you shall have good success.  Interestingly, Good success in Hebrew is the same word as skill.

Oholiab and Bezalel

As Moses was receiving his instructions to construct the Tabernacle, the Lord revealed to him that there was a man by the name of Bezaleel of the tribe of Judah.  The Lord communicated to Moses that he had filled this man with his spirit in wisdom and understanding, and in knowledge, and in all manner of workmanship.  He had skill, know-how and expertise in every kind of craft to create designs and work in gold, silver, and bronze. (Exod. 31:1-5) MSG  “Not only that, but I’ve given him Oholiab, of the tribe of Dan to work with him.  And to all who have an aptitude for crafts, I’ve given the SKILLS to make all the things I’ve commanded you.” (Exod. 31:6) MSG

The Book of James tells us to ask for wisdom and it shall be given. (James 1:5).

May all readers who have lost their creativity, be restored to the face to face relationship with The Messiah, and receive the divine instructions needed to fulfill their destiny.

Love,

P/Karen
