A Word From Karen

FROM MT. SINAI
TO MT. ZION

Pentecost has moved from a physical mountain to a spiritual mountain.  The spiritual mountain is as real as the physical.  At the first Pentecost/Shavuot occurring at Mt. Sinai, God descended in fire, the mountain shook, the trumpets sounded, and the people stood back in fear. (Ex. 19-20)  Israel approached a physical mountain, saw physical signs and had physical reactions.

We are no longer called to Mt. Sinai.  We are now called to another mountain that is greater.

“For you have not come to the mountain that may be touched…But you have come to Mt. Zion…” (Hebrews 12:18,22).

We now come before a spiritual mountain and are to expect spiritual results.

THE MAIN PURPOSE OF PENTECOST

One of the main purposes of Pentecost/Shavuot was to demonstrate that God was speaking to man. (Ex. 19 and 20).

God has not changed.  His desire is to speak to man and have man obey every word out of His mouth.

Remember that the word of God contrasts two mountains:

Mt. Sinai

  • Fear and trembling
  • Physical fire on a mountain
  • Distance from God
  • Law written externally on stone

Mt. Zion

  • Relationship and access to God
  • The law of God now written on our hearts
  • Closeness to the presence of God
  • Spiritual fire placed within us

WHAT IS PRESENT AT EVERY PENETECOST

Present at every Pentecost is a spiritual mountain, angels, people, God and God’s voice.

We can now have a continuing personal Pentecost. (Heb. 12:18-24)

Pentecost is a continual work of the Holy Spirit, who transforms your life from the inside out.  You are no longer climbing a physical mountain.  You are the temple of God carrying the presence of God.

“Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom which cannot be shaken, let us have grace, by which we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear.” (Heb. 12:28)

For any of you who may feel a little shaky right now, remember you have received a spiritual kingdom which CANNOT BE SHAKEN.

Blessings,

P/Karen
