“Now therefore, go, lead the people to the place of
which I have spoken to you.
Behold, my angel shall go before you…”
(Exod. 32:34) (NKJV)
Why would understanding the Hebrew month, Tammuz, be of benefit to you? Because during this month, many significant acts occurred as recorded throughout the Word of God. These various acts were written for our admonition, revealing examples to follow and those to avoid.
ISRAEL AND THE GOLDEN CALF
Let’s look at one very significant event in the month of Tammuz as recorded in Exod.32. On the 17th day of Tammuz, as Moses was returning from the mountain top after receiving divine revelation from God as written on the two tablets, he approached the camp and saw a golden calf and the people worshiping it in dance.
Moses became so angry he cast the tablets out of his hand and broke them at the foot of the mountain.
The children of Israel had quickly disowned the LORD and broken covenant when faced with what they considered an uncomfortable delay. Their impatience caused them to waver, so much, that they requested that Aaron create a golden calf for them to worship. Our own impatience in waiting for the Lord to move is a sign of our instability, our lack of faith. Instability is a lack of faith resulting in doublemindedness.
“O Ephraim, what shall I do to you? O Judah, what shall I do to you? Your faithfulness is like a morning cloud, and like the early dew, it goes away” (Hos. 6:4).
In this month of Tammuz, stay close to the LORD in worship and praise. Do not allow the enemy to trick you into creating a “golden calf.” Do not change your allegiance from the Spirit of the Lord to your own or another’s carnal thinking.
“My son, [reverently] fear the Lord and the king, and do not associate with those who are given to change [of allegiance, and are revolutionary], For their calamity shall rise suddenly, and who knows the punishment and ruin which both [the Lord and the king] will bring upon [the rebellious]?” (Prov. 24:21-22) AMP (c)
MOSES THE INTERCESSOR
The Lord was so angry with His people that He wanted to kill them. He told Moses that His people had made a golden calf to worship and called it their god. Moses pleaded with God not to destroy them and reminded God of the prophetic words to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob that they would multiply as the stars of Heaven.
The Lord repented from the harm He said He would do. To repent in this sentence means He said He was sorry. Meditate on this for a moment. Great prophetic words had been spoken to Abraham about his destiny. If Moses had not interceded, reminding the Lord of those words to Abraham, they would not have come to pass. We have all received great prophetic words. Have any of them been cancelled due to our creating and trusting a “golden calf?” Delay is not denial or abandonment. The Lord is not slack concerning His promise. Slack in this context means delayed. His timing is perfect.
The Lord says: “Come now and let’s deliberate over the next steps to take together.” (Isa. 1:18) (TPT)
“If you have a willing heart to let Me help you, and if you will obey Me, you will feast on the blessings of an abundant harvest” (Isa. 1:19)(TPT).
Many of you need serious answers. The Lord says, “Continue to Ask, Seek and Knock.” He will be found and be willing to share what you need.
Blessings,
