“Behold, you desire truth in the inward parts, And in the hidden part you will make me to know wisdom”
(Ps. 51:6)(NKJ)
What are the inward parts of man? From the Hebraic understanding, the inward parts are our kidneys. The kidneys are also called “reins” in the word of God. “Examine me, O LORD, and prove me; try my reins and my heart” (Ps. 26:2). Keep in mind that it is first the natural and then the spiritual. (I Cor. 15:46)
Understanding the natural functions of the body, can give us concrete pictures of the spiritual realm. Hebrew thought is conceptual and paints pictures to our minds. Conceptual thought can help us apply what we are studying to our personal lives.
The main function of our kidneys is to remove waste and impurities from our blood. Once cleansed, the blood is sent back into the whole bloodstream.
55% of blood is plasma. 90% of plasma is water. If our kidneys become diseased, they lose the ability to filter waste from the blood. To keep our kidneys healthy, we must make healthy food choices, drink sufficient water, exercise, and get enough sleep.
In order to stay healthy spiritually, we must maintain a daily intake of the Water of Life so we can walk in truth and know wisdom. We are cleansed by knowing and obeying the Word of God. The Scriptures are our spiritual filter just as our kidneys are filters to our natural bodies.
Please ask yourself, “have toxic thoughts overtaken my soul?”
Do we find ourselves resentful, bitter, unforgiving, hardened in heart, critical, envious, slanderous, backbiters, gossipers?
A single fountain cannot spew both sweet and bitter water.(James 3:11). Devilish and sensual wisdom is bitter and creates strife in our hearts. James says not to glory, if that is the case, and lie not against the truth. (James. 3:14) As serious as damaged kidneys are to the natural body, equally harmful to our souls are unhealthy, (toxic or otherwise ungodly) entertained thoughts in our minds. The LORD tests us according to what we are thinking.
As we truthfully face what is within us and ask Him for help, the Lord will make known to us His wisdom.
Jesus Christ is the water of life. As we receive of Him today (His fresh, sweet water) we will be cleansed and set free.
Love,
